Blaisey's Room

As promised, here is another video of our new dwelling.  This time: Blaise's room!  We aren't 100% finished - as with everything.  The next thing we really need are some shelves for his toys and we still have some things for his walls.  Maybe even some decals, though we have to find something that we could take with us.  "Hi" is his newest word.  He only uses it when you ask him, looking forward to the day he says, "Hi, Mama!"

Ceiling

Here is the ceiling post I promised.  Jan and Blaise are on their way to take a bath - Blaise was hoping for a detour at the book basket :)

Newsflash

Blaise took three independent steps today!

He has been walking holding on to "stuff" for awhile now.  We were just waiting for him to take off one day, and today before he went to bed Jan told him to walk to him - and he DID!  He then walked back and forth between us and we were so excited and cheering that he ended up just lunging his body at us.  We had a moment.

For all the things I stressed about in the past 18 months of his little life, late walking was never one of them.  I knew I had no reason to.  Now there will surely be no stopping him!

Our New Abode, Part 1

I have been asked a few times to post some pictures of our new place.  I keep putting it off, because I don't feel like we are "done" yet...but I can probably wait another year and still not feel "done."  So, I thought I'd take some videos.  I started today and will add at least another 2 in this series.  ;)  I forgot to mention some things in the video:

1) you can't see the ceiling, which I really like, it is wood - I'll add that in another video,

2)  you can see the grill outside on the balcony, I think we've used it over 50% of the time since we got it as a housewarming gift from my cousin Kim,

3) also on the balcony I think you can see a plastic storage container to the left - that is Blaise's pool (which I just realized you CAN'T actually see, but now you know that it is there),

4)  we got most of our pictures hung, but two are still missing - the small turtle to the left of the couch we bought at an art fair in Maui, and the one over the couch we got from our friend Jörg a few Christmases ago,

5) you see a half painted white cabinet in the kitchen, two families ago someone started messing around with paint and apparently didn't like it.  Not sure what we are going to do about it (if anything at this point).

Another thing besides the open floor plan and wooden ceiling that we both like about this place was that it comes with underfloor heating, which will be great for little feet and little bellies! (not to mention big feet (and big bellies!))!

Mercedes SLK

Michelle K was of the opinion that Blaise needed a car.  A sports car - is anyone surprised?

Thanks MichelleK, he loves it!

(I have squeaky Mommy voice, oh man...)

All the Ways I Love You

My Mom found this Recordable Storybook and it is a wonderful present for anyone who lives far away.  I am glad we have this recording of my Dad reading a book and I am sure Blaise will cherish it for years to come.  He asks to read/hear it and points to the picture of Grandpa that my Mom taped into the book of my Dad reading books to Blaise last Christmas.

Food

Blaise has always been a good eater, just lately he is becoming more opinionated and selective.  One afternoon my Mom and I made pizza.  He had his lunch/snack of avocado and cheese and then moved on to my piece of pizza - he sure is getting good use out of his long awaited teeth (a total of four now!!).

First Word...

...that he uses regularly.  He said "duck" a long time ago, but only a few times and then never again.  Blaise says "ma-ma," and "da-da," some animal sounds, a couple of his own made up words and some random words only once.  BUT, "ball" is really the first word he has continually (and correctly) used.

(it is kind of hard to take videos of him, since he wants to see the pictures on the other side of the camera and constantly is pulling at it, but you get the idea :) )
